Trail to Arcadia
new watercolor series
I just have to share a few photos I took last month in Bovec, Slovenia; one of the most beautiful places on Earth! This gorgeous countryside where I used to spend many summer and winter holidays throughout my childhood was this time an inspiration for my new series "Trail to Arcadia".
And here is a little explanation of the title, since I am not referring to an actual geographic location named Arcadia, but rather to a theme from the art history. The term "Arcadia" derived from the Greek province Arcadia that dates to antiquity. It's mountainous nature and sparse population later caused the word Arcadia to come to represent idyllic vision of unspoiled wilderness, and can represent any idyllic location or paradise, where life is lived naturally, uncorrupted by civilization.
