"EXTRACTION"
 Walker Fine Art
Denver , CO

Here are some images from the exhibition "Extraction" at Walker Fine Art, where I am currently showing six of my larger scale watercolors. I wasn't able to fly in for the opening reception this time around, but I was impressed seeing these photos with the amazing installation work Bobbi Walker, the gallery owner, and Dariya Bryant, the gallery manager had done! Thank you Bobbi and Dariya!

Big news

There are so many things I want to share, as there have been some major events in my life since the last time I wrote here.
First and the most important one - in July our family welcomed a new addition - little baby Karl Lucas, our second son. Since babies needs lots of love, care and attention, (as well as does Albert, our five year old), posting here about my artistic journey had to wait a bit.

When Albert was born I made a series of 365 watercolors ("Albert's series") until his first birthday. It was both a tribute to him, and a way to stay connected with my art (and stay sane!). This time I decided to create another 365 watercolor series ("Karl's series"), though this time I am so much busier so it will be a bigger challenge.

September brought a great feature of my work in an essay ("Drawing On Their Imagination") written by Edward Gomez, and published in the Art and Antiques magazine.

Edward noticed my work at the Metro Paper Art Fair, in New York in 2014, where I was showing with the Kathryn Markel Fine Arts gallery. Now, almost two years after - there is a lovely article that features my work. You can take a look at it here.

The beginning of October for me also marks the beginning of my large solo exhibition at the Lewis University. I have over thirty watercolors on view there, at the spacious Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery (it consists of three rooms!). The exhibition runs from October 1st-25th, with an artist reception on the 22nd.

MODERNIST OUTLOOK

exhibition of work by Taehoon Kim, Sally Ko and Ana Zanic
Opening Reception May 8th 6-9:30pm
exhibition runs May 8th-June 19th 2015

As my family and I are busy with moving into a new house this week, I am also getting ready for the upcoming three-person exhibition, opening on May 8th at the Gallery 19, in Chicago.

I have recently been contacted  by Tommy Reyes, the Gallery 19 director and owner (an artist himself), who was interested in showing my work after noticing it in a couple of exhibitions in Chicago. After my visit to the Gallery 19, and Tommy's visit to my studio, we selected the work and set the details.

This time around the focus of my work will be on my Nebula series in green/blue palette and I believe it will make an interesting counterpoint to the works of Taehoon Kim and Sally Ko
